Aging effects can be minimized

None of us can beat the clock, but all of us would like to give it a run for its money. While countless books, TV personalities and other media outlets have offered an enormous volume of advice about how to slow down the ‘aging effects‘, there are a few pieces of advice that have stood out as fool-proof methods for maintaining a healthy and youthful physical and mental state.

Here are 6 ways you can follow to fight aging effects:-

1. Use essential oils

There are a few essential oils that you will probably hear about often in reference to maintaining a youthful appearance, as well as a healthy body. Fish oil is an excellent anti-inflammatory agent, while helping to keep hair and skin soft and supple. Rubbing sesame oil on the skin helps blood circulation as well as maintains healthy and soft skin.

2. Reduce sugar intake

Avoid sugar – especially processed sugar, at all costs. We all know that sugar can have damaging effects on our body, with diabetes being at the top of the list. But few realize the affect sugar can have on the appearance of our bodies. Sugar breaks down the collagen in your face, causing the skin to wrinkle and sag quicker.

3. Minimize stress

Stress management is imperative to maintaining a youthful mind, body and spirit. Nothing ages like the pressures of stress. Be sure to cut out unnecessary stressors in your life, whether at home, in the office or otherwise. At work, take time to yourself and manage time spent on your tasks so that you don’t become overwhelmed. Don’t bring work home with you too often. Make time for family and relaxation while at home.

4. Get adequate sleep

Sleep is perhaps the most overlooked anti-aging technique there is. Sleep gives your body the opportunity to heal and rejuvenate after the wear and tear of the day, and studies have shown your skin regenerates nearly 30 times more than while awake. Human growth hormone is released by the pituitary gland. HGH deficiency can lead to loss of muscle mass, slower metabolism, and cause skin to sag. Studies by the Sleep Foundation indicate that adults need seven to eight hours of sleep each night to maintain optimal health.

5. Moisturize your skin

Skin care rituals are increasingly important as we begin to age. Men and women should both moisturize regularly after cleansing, and using a cleanser that is not particularly harsh is usually best. Lotion that contains glycerin or shea butter helps hydrate the skin, preventing wrinkles.

6. Limit sun exposure

UVB and UVA rays are no joke. Even if you spend most of your time inside an office space, research shows that UV rays will still be able to reach you through windows etc. So unless you work inside of a bomb shelter, skin experts advise using a broad-spectrum sunscreen 365 days a year, whether the weather is sunny or not.
