Take every chance you can to be active, even if it’s only for a few minutes a day. You could try a few simple exercises while waiting for the kettle to boil or watching TV. You can even include the mopping or vacuuming towards your 30 minutes a day. If it is too hot, cold or raining, walk in an air-conditioned shopping center with a friend. No need for complicated exercise routines to achieve the benefits of physical activity. Just be active in normal day activities!

IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER ABOUT HEALTH AND WELLNESS EXERCISES.

Most importantly you should always see your medical adviser before you begin a new fitness program. Try to be active every day in as many ways as possible, doing a range of activities that include fitness, strength, flexibility and balance.

TIPS FOR SUCCESS

If you can’t do 30 minutes now, start with 10 minutes once or twice a week. After 2 weeks, make it 15 minutes twice a day and you will have reached your goal of 30 minutes a day.

  • Do some stretching exercises after your activity to help avoid muscle soreness and injury.
  • Wear loose clothes and supportive shoes. This will make your activity safer and more enjoyable.
  • Remember to drink lots of water before, during and after your activity.
  • The old saying of “no pain, no gain” is not true. If you feel any pain, slow down or stop.
